Many people have a natural desire to sport white teeth. But the problem is that not all teeth are colored equally. Some of us have teeth that are naturally white and there are some that are not so white, even yellowish. But really nothing to be ashamed of. Natural tones of white are acceptable. What's not are teeth stained by substances from tobacco, coffee, and other products that pass through our mouth. While there are products out there specifically designed to whiten teeth, most can do more harm than good if used improperly. That is why you need to consult with a dentist first if you plan on using any of them, especially the bleaches, because these can cause teeth to be sensitive for a time. There's also the danger of allergic reactions and the effect on gums.
There are toothpastes readily available which anyone can use to whiten teeth. The ingredients of most of them include calcium pyrophosphate, dicalcium phosphate, sodium metaphosphate, calcium carbonate, and zirconium silicate. These are basically mild abrasives. Not how many times the word "calcium" pops up.Abrasives, while they can scour the surface of teeth to remove stains, can also do damage to enamel and cause teeth abrasions, especially to those who brush with enough pressure and consistently in one direction. This is why it is essential to brush the right way and pick the right toothpaste that polishes---not erodes. Of course, to keep teeth from decaying, it helps to get a brand with a reliable dose of fluoride and antimicrobial properties. Choose a brand (like the AP24 Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste) that does not have harmful peroxides and keeps your mouth fresh after brushing.
With regular use of a good product that does more good than harm, you'll be on your way to getting whiter teeth that shines! Bet remember that such products can only lighten the shade of your teeth a bit. They certainly cannot change the natural color of tooth enamel. If your's tend to be off-white, then there's really nothing you can do short of drastic measures in the dentist's chair. But the important thing is that you keep your teeth clean and strong. That's certainly better than white teeth that's weak and with cavities. Now, that's the white way to whiten teeth! (Apologies to Elmer Fudd)
